Michael W. Riley CSP, CHSP, Director of Health Safety Training and Risk Management

For 45 years, Mike has worked within the mining and general industry, serving as an Underground Miner, Maintenance Person, Safety Manager and Director, Training Manager and Director and Workers' Compensation Director. Mike has developed a comprehensive knowledge of both mining and general industry and understands the unique needs of the companies he serves and the employees who will be charged with implementing safe practices and procedures for projects in the field.

Mining Companies include: Freeman United Coal Mining Company, Kerr-McGee Coal Company, Amex Coal Company, Murray Energy, Nyrstar Zinc Mining Company and is currently serving as Director of Safety, Health and Risk Management to Madisonville Mining, LLC.

Mike worked in the OSHA environment as Safety and Training Director for numerous industries which include: Big River Zinc Corporation, Intelligrated Industries, St. Mary's Good Samaritan Health Care and Suncoke Industries.

Mike has also taught as an adjunct Professor at Rend Lake College, Belleville Area College and Southwest Illinois College.

His specialties include budget management, Safety and Health of Employees and managing and controlling workers compensation costs, training of employees for risk reduction and management training for middle and senior management.

Mike's certifications include:

  • Illinois Mine Manager
  • Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) approved instructor for initial training, retraining and electrical training
  • OSHA Certified Instructor for General and Construction Industry
  • Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
